Jewelry Care & Tips

Gold-Filled & Sterling Silver Jewelry Care

14k gold-fill is a budget friendly alternative to solid gold. It is durable, hypoallergenic, & safe for everyday wear. Your Flower & Flame gold fill jewelry is water-resistant, tarnish resistant, and with proper care can last a lifetime.

For a quick polish, use a soft microfiber polishing cloth. To clean your gold-filled jewelry use lukewarm water with mild soap or jewelry cleaner and make sure to pat dry with a soft cloth. A soft bristle brush can be used to get into the nooks and crannies.  Avoid using harsh chemicals to clean your gold-filled pieces.

Sterling silver can oxidize (darken) over time. If this happens, don't fret! Silver cleaner will restore your silver jewelry to its original color and luster.

Please note that some gemstones should not come into contact with moisture. These gemstones include: natural opals, quartz, tourmaline, turquoise, labradorite, jade, hematite, & fluorite.

Polymer Clay  & Gold Plated Jewelry Care
All Flower & Flame clay earring posts, backings, & hooks are hypoallergenic, nickel-free, and safe for sensitive ears. To avoid tarnishing the gold elements on your jewelry it is best not to expose them to moisture.

Some of the charms on our polymer clay earrings are raw brass. Raw brass can tarnish overtime but can easily be polished using a metal polishing cloth, or a dab of Brasso on a q-tip or cotton ball.

Avoid contact with products that contain oil, alcohol, or acetone. Apply any creams, lotions, or sunscreens prior to putting on your polymer clay or gold plated jewelry.

Polymer clay is durable and should not break if dropped, but please treat your earrings with care. Avoid contact with products that contain oil, alcohol, or acetone. Store your jewelry in a clean dry place.
