Jewelry Care + Tips
Gold Filled Jewelry Care
Flower + Flame does not recommend wearing your gold-filled jewelry in chlorinated pools, hot tubs, or the ocean. Wearing your gold-filled jewelry in the shower/bath is fine as long as you dry your pieces off afterward. We suggest removing your jewelry before bed to avoid any accidental tugging or yanking.
Apply any cosmetics, creams, oils, etc. prior to putting your jewelry on. Avoid excessive contact with sunscreen as the chemicals in most sunscreens can be harsh on metals.
To clean your gold-filled jewelry use lukewarm water with mild soap and make sure to pat dry with a soft cloth. Avoid using jewelry cleaners and chemicals to clean your gold-filled pieces.
Polymer Clay + Gold Plated Jewelry Care
All Flower + Flame earring posts, backings, + hooks are hypoallergenic, nickel-free, and safe for sensitive ears. To avoid tarnishing the gold elements on your jewelry it is best not to wear them in water.
Some of the charms on our polymer clay earrings are raw brass. Raw brass can tarnish overtime but can easily be polished using a metal polishing cloth, or a dab of Brasso on a q-tip or cotton ball.
Avoid contact with products that contain oil, alcohol, or acetone. Apply any creams, lotions, or sunscreens prior to putting on your polymer clay or gold plated jewelry.
Polymer clay is durable and should not break if dropped, but please treat your earrings with care. Avoid contact with products that contain oil, alcohol, or acetone. Store your jewelry in a clean dry place.
